The Intention Behind This Website

  • The intention of this website is to create a platform for debate and exchange of new and fresh ideas for a Second Enlightenment to benefit the world. Hopefully some of these ideas for the Second Enlightenment can be debated at dinner tables, coffee shops and gatherings by you, and by the pathbreakers of this and future generations.
  • Some of the ideas presented within may seem quite radical. But let us not be afraid of ideas. We need to consider all possibilities to improve our life on this vibrant and wonderful planet.
  • The ideas are not intended to tell people how to live. Solutions and unique ideas are proposed here, but there is no ‘should’ or ‘should not’; it all depends on each individual to live a life as they see fit. For this, we need to ask ourselves what kind of world we want to live in:

      • Do we want animals go extinct?
      • How long do we want to continue using fossil fuels and polluting our world?
      • How long can we live in denial of poverty?
      • Do we want peace and an end to all wars?
      • How can we stimulate some positive responses to our local and global dilemmas?
      • Should we continue our old habits just because they are comfortable?
      • Can we make the world a comfortable place for ourselves by removing discrimination and structural violence?
      • Would we want to make nature a comfortable place for animals to be able to live according to the tenets of nature, without human interference?

  • It is also an intention to celebrate all the good that is already happening in the world. Optimistic thinking may someday make our idealism real and functional. Repelling powerlessness and despair means not surrendering to the bad news.
  • This is the century of rights as well as responsibilities to each other: deeper and all-encompassing human rights, animal rights, planetary rights. It is a century of global justice – the century of people’s power. Not the century of self, but the century of all.
